According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management, The State of Georgia has a shoreline of 2,344 miles. This includes offshore islands, sounds, bays, rivers, and creeks to the head of tidewater or to a point where tidal waters narrow to a width of 100 feet. This state has many marinas to choose from, but which ones are the best?
Brunswick Landing Marina, Brunswick
Formerly used by the US Navy as a hurricane hole, Brunswick Landing Marina is a full-service, pet-friendly, and large community marina that is sheltered from hurricanes off of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. This marina offers a secure docking for your boat, thanks to its tough engineering design. The facility was designed in a location surrounded on the East, North, and West sides by landmass preventing wave action damage. Their floating concrete docks allow boats to rise and fall with surge without chafing, stretching, and stressing dock lines.
The marina has a 50-ton travel lift that can accommodate boats up to 70 feet in length with a maximum beam of 18 feet. They offer hull cleaning services that guarantee cleaning from the waterline of the vessel to the bottom of the keel, all running gear, trims, shaft, transducers, rudders, and intakes.
If you have damaged boat propellers, they can machine it for you and get your boat back in great shape. They also offer detailing services and use only top-quality products. Fiberglass repair is another service this marina offers. They fabricate new parts, make repairs, and restore your boat to its original strength and showroom appearance.
Should your boat encounter engine issues, their technicians are capable of handling all marine diesel engine overhauls, generator installs and rebuilds, and engine maintenance and servicing. In addition, they also offer woodworks and electronics repair.
They provide a number of amenities that include a private yacht club, free Wi-Fi, free laundry, free pump-outs, a library, and roaming security.
Aqualand Marina, Flowery Branch
Located on Lake Sydney Lanier in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains, Aqualand Marina offers several dockage options for boats. According to their website, they are the largest inland marina in the country, with over 2,100 total wet and dry slips that can accommodate the smallest of vessels to luxury houseboat proportions (with sizes ranging from 26 to 100 feet long). Aqualand Marina offers shore power and fresh water hook-ups, and access to their private slip-tenant facilities including private restrooms, bathhouses, and laundry.
They also have fiberglass dock boxes (available upon request), Wi-Fi, 24-hour gated security, night watch staff, private launch ramps, and experienced staff.
Aqualand is home to Lake Lanier's only Self-Service Repair Yard. Their 25-ton travel lifts can haul out or launch boats up to 65 feet. If you're a do-it-yourselfer, this is the right place for you.
Lake Lanier is a recreations resource that attracts about 8 million visitors per year, with 68 parks and recreation area as well as 1,200 campsites.
