We began building 12 volt lights to provide high quality lighting for our alternative energy homes. We wanted lights that were highly efficient, attractive, very durable, and produced pleasant light similar to incandescent bulbs. For several years we tried just about everything available, but found none that were satisfactory.

In 1982, we began building our own, using the latest and best components available. These lights are now the primary light source for many alternative energy homes in this area and the owners won't consider using anything else.

We have been using them on our sailboat and have had many requests to make them commercially available. Alpenglow Lights LLC was formed for that purpose, and we have been offering Alpenglow lights to the marine community since 1988.
